Producing Reel

Full Show (Election Coverage)
I was the 10 p.m. producer on primary election night in Missouri. I really enjoyed working earlier in the day with our anchors to produce a special opening package for the top of the show. I thought we had really excellent team coverage throughout the whole night. We had some prompter issues in the beginning, but we soon fixed it and the show went pretty smoothly after that.

We were able to get an exclusive interview with the father of a young Columbia girl who was killed when her mother drove her car into the Kansas River. We started the show with an cold SOT opening that was emotional and grabs your attention right away. The reporter did a really nice job on the story and I pushed to have our touchscreen on set to show how to interact with the story online at the end. The rest of the show covers downtown shooting safety, primary election coverage, and local construction.

Our top story for this show was not from our viewing area, but we found it the most compelling of the day and used our sister-station's package to share with our viewers. Four children were apparently being kept plywood boxes in makeshift rooms with no access to water or toilets. I thought the rolling bam set the scene up for a non-local story and coverage was solid. The rest of the show includes college football field vandalism, discussion of gas tax, and some cool visuals to show what actually happens to used ballots.
